Monthly Blogger Crush: July

Monthly Blogger Crush: July

It’s that time again where we meet this month’s worthy Blogger Crush… read more

As summer is meant to be about sunshine and happiness we thought there’s no better blogger to bring a bit of sunshine to our blog this month than the fabulous Sally from Getting Stuff Done In Heels who is our July blogger crush…

Sally is as mad as a bag of cats but we love her for it. Her excitement and enthusiasm for Laura Ashley means we enjoy working with her season after season and she has even featured on our blog a few times herself in Alfresco Dining and Me and Mr. Jones. Sally’s chatty, friendly tone is always fun to read and we love getting to know more about her life in her all male household. Her front door is still one of the hits of our Instagram feed and if you see her out and about shopping she’ll be the woman tottering about in her heels of course…

It came about by accident really! haha! I was really enjoying ‘micro blogging’ over on Instagram, and would often wish I had more room! Having a ‘proper blog’ seemed really grown up and clever, so I mulled it over for about a year before I took the plunge (don’t like to rush these things!). In the end, it was my Instagram followers that really made me do it. They were always cheering me on saying I should, and that really gave me the confidence to start writing!

I love blogging for so many reasons! I love that I can connect with so many people and I have been so lucky to have made some really good blogging friends through it. And non-blogging friends! There is a whole network of lovely ladies out there that I would never have met in ‘real life’ for whatever reason, geography being the main one! I love the camaraderie and the support that blogging brings, and it has opened doors and given me so many opportunities. I really can’t imagine life ‘sans blog’ now.

BCJul2On a more serious note, I also love it because it has given me a voice. As lots of you know, Cancer has touched our lives and I have written at length about it, and about how we feel. I find it very cathartic to write our story down. And the massive bonus is that through it I have been able to help other survivors, and also raise awareness for Blood Cancer and vitally, raise awareness on becoming a Stem Cell Donor. Through my blog and social media I know of four wonderful people who signed up to the register and have since been found to be a lifesaving stem cell match for someone with blood cancer. How amazing is that. Blows my mind.

Oh crumbs all sorts! Ranging from suddenly needing to share a biscuit recipe, to being asked to share what I wore to a wedding, to a funny situation or just to share part of my life! I find humour in most things and I am lucky enough to have readers that enjoy humour too! Find the funny is my motto. There is always something to make me smile, even if it’s something in a less than humorous circumstance. I always seem to end up writing in a lighthearted way, Usually by accident!

Only 3??  But I have LOADS of favourites! ok, here are 4… (always was a rule breaker)

@carasuthers she is so much fun, her boys are gorgeous and I love her sense of humour.

@blossomingbirds Anna is simply gorgeous, her girls are the cutest and she is a joy to know.

@thevintageroom Louise has the most impeccable taste, her images are always beautiful and I was lucky enough to meet her in real life last year, so I can report that she is an absolute diamond. We giggled all day!

I also love @noraborealis, I love her style and admire her never ending courage. Her humour is brilliant. I’ve been following her blog for years and she’s had me in floods of tears and then smiling again. We don’t know each other, but she is one of my absolute favourites.

Well, this was the most tricky question of all, my most coveted pieces would be a whole room-set including rugs, lamps and accessories, but if I have to drill it down I will admit I am hankering over the Baslow Leather corner sofa (we are about to redecorate and I haven’t informed my husband that that’ll include new sofas and curtains…. don’t want to panic him!) And I definitely need a nice big footstool, the Powell fabric Low Footstool in EdwinChenille Blush! Eeeek!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThanks Sally for letting us get to know you better.. Make sure you check out her blog and don’t forget to follow her on Instagram. Who do you think should be our next blogger crush? Let us know below or on Twitter @LauraAshleyUK
